God is In Everything

GOD IS IN EVERYTHING

Lesson is designed to help students see that God is all around them in everyday life and simple things.

Actitivity I
Put fun objects such as a pack of gum, sticky notes, rosary, or any other simple object into a grab bag. Have each of the students draw out one item.
Give an example such as how God can become manifest through a notebook = God can be present in a notebook because I can write my thoughts down and it can become a prayer, or I can keep track of my prayers in a prayer notebook so that whenever I refer to it, I will see more clearly how my prayers are being answered, or I can write down thoughts or things I remember from a gospel or homily and relate it to my own life on paper.
Students get to keep whatever items they draw after they share with the class how God can be present in the item they drew out.
These items can be used or new. (It can be a fun way to adults to de-junk and share with the students)

Actitivity II
Divide students into groups of 3. Hand out pieces of tin foil (About a foot each) Have them create something that reminds them of God from the tin foil. If they need more tin foil have it available. Each group presents to the class. You’ll be surprised at their creativity. We have had students create a chalice with a host, Jesus on a cross and one group even made a rosary.

Teaching:
The lesson portion of this teaching could be an in depth discussion of the scriptures and CCC associated with the topic.
Students could be asked to read verses from the Bible and the Catechism, while the catechist brings the verses to life in modern day terms.

Scripture & Catechism

Deuteronomy 12:7
There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you.

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Acts 17:24
"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.

CCC 1701 "Christ, . . . in the very revelation of the mystery of the Father and of his love, makes man fully manifest to himself and brings to light his exalted vocation."[2] It is in Christ, "the image of the invisible God,"[3] that man has been created "in the image and likeness" of the Creator. It is in Christ, Redeemer and Savior, that the divine image, disfigured in man by the first sin, has been restored to its original beauty and ennobled by the grace of God.[4]

1702 The divine image is present in every man. It shines forth in the communion of persons, in the likeness of the union of the divine persons among themselves (cf. chapter two).

1703 Endowed with "a spiritual and immortal" soul,[5] the human person is "the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake."[6] From his conception, he is destined for eternal beatitude.

1704 The human person participates in the light and power of the divine Spirit. By his reason, he is capable of understanding the order of things established by the Creator. By free will, he is capable of directing himself toward his true good. He finds his perfection "in seeking and loving what is true and good."[7]

Song
I feel that it would be important to end a class such as this on a humble note therefore the song I’ve chosen is one to help re-examine our worthiness and God’s eternal love for us despite our failings.
